Last night @ the Emmy Awards!

Last night I was lucky enough to participate in being a volunteer for the 2011 NY Emmy Awards. The experience was unlike any other, and it opened my eyes to the world of event planning. The volunteers & interns all helped set up the room which included setting the tables with gift bags, chocolates, and program books. Then we took a break and got ready for the actual event. My duties included a range of activities such as working the guest list, grabbing and prompting presenters when bringing them back stage, and guarding the VIP gift bag section. The best part about it was seeing an event the whole way through, top to bottom. When all the guests were seated and enjoying themselves, it was a feeling of accomplishment for those who helped. The night was long, I was there from 11:30am and didn't step back into my apartment until 2am. However, the long day and night was well worth the experience.

  2. wow thats a really great experience! My friend Rachel did it also with you, she said it was so much work but so worth it all. I'm also very into event planning PR, for my internship we have this red carpet and fashion show event. It's this friday in the city at Amnesia nightclub. It's for my client DIGMI Nation clothing line, the amount of stuff that we have had to do is crazy but i have so much fun.

  3. This sounds really awesome, especially as I wasn't familiar with this separate NY Emmy Awards ceremony (I was just checking out the website and the list of winners). While I have really enjoyed my time interning at a PR agency, I think it would be exciting to help out at least with one event, just to see how events are planned and executed.

  4. That sounds like an amazing experience! I'm sure all of us would kill for a behind the scenes look into a major awards show. We never really know what goes into events and planning until we help out. Congrats!

  5. That is so awesome! I intern for an event marketing firm and you are right, it takes a whole lot to put an event together, and after when you get to see all your hard work come through successfully, it is such a great feeling! Congrats on having the opportunity to do that! It must of been such a great experience :)

  6. I agree with everyone else, that sounds like a lot of fun and something not many people get to experience. Is event planning something you want to continue doing in the future?

  7. Tori that is awesome! Definitely an amazing experience to put on your resume. Employers will like that you were involved in the day of the event because it shows you can work under pressure!
